It can be said that your psyche is "made" of Archetypes. Archetypes are universal images and symbols hard-wired in your brain. They are the fantasies in your imagination and are part of the programming that cause universal behaviors, movements and sounds. Your behavior, in life and while acting, results from your unique combination of Archetypes and memories.

Thus, access to a whole range of Archetypes is a requirement to be a professional actor. Archetype Work, as taught at our school, is a tool all professional actors should have. Our Archetype Intensives offer deep immersion in the psychology and practice of this powerful work. This work is not therapy but, like great acting, is healing and therapeutic. It is safe, fun and deeply rewarding. It is "consciousness" work that impacts your acting like nothing else.

In the Archetype Intensive:

• You cultivate access to a whole range of very real energies, emotions, states-of being, voices, bodies, ways of thinking and ways of imagining -- Archetypes.

• You learn a process for accessing these altered states-of-being anytime, anywhere.

• You explore how you can use your dreams to create unique acting choices, real states-of-being, imagined places, people and original characterizations.

• You learn the basics of The Psychology of Selves, perhaps the most powerful script analysis tool available, when combined with traditional script analysis tools.

• You learn the causes of human vulnerability, conflict, attraction, repulsion. This enables you to quickly identify, create and access a character's loves and conflicts -- experientially!

• You learn a vocabulary of universal vulnerability and Archetypes. This allows you to quickly identify and experientially create character wants, goals, inner obstacles and actions in all kinds of scripts!

• You explore the fundamental Archetypes professional actors must have automatic access to to get frequent work: The Masculine, The Feminine, The Killer, The Hero, The Victim, The Pleaser, The Joker, The Traditionalist, The Business Person, The Liar, The Romantic, The Slut, The Old Soul, The Spiritualist, The Magical Child, The Playful Child, The Vulnerable Child, and more.

• You will learn how to do this work with other actors, as a facilitator, so you can take this work with you wherever you go. You can then meet with other actors trained in this work to further your process together.

Time and time again, highly trained actors take this intensive and say it was a missing piece of the acting puzzle. They say it makes their previous training far more accessible and practical. By the end of this workshop, you may view human interactions and scripts in a whole new way. You will be able to pick up a script and make quick decisions about the nature and ways in which the characters are at war -- deciding upon strong, playable objectives, actions and tactics. We will analyze a well-known movie and play, during the course of the intensive.

Included in this intensive is "The Voice Dialogue Series and The Psychology of Selves," with Dr. Hal Stone and Dr. Sidra Stone - 12 hours of DVD instruction and demonstrations and 8 CD Audios for check-out anytime.

The Archetype Intensive is a package deal, offered three times a year. It meets two full weekends, and an additional two half-days. The meetings are spread out over about 2.5 months. To be accepted into the Archetype Intensive, you must have had at least one 90 minute private session with Jason Bennett (included with on-going acting classes) or a trained Archetype facilitator. A maximum of 10 students are accepted into each intensive. You receive a cetificate of completion at the end of your training. The cost for this intensive is $745.

Weekend Number 1 with Jason Bennett and Bridgit Gaspard: The Psychology of Selves, Dreams, Archetype Work and Facilitation training.

Weekend Number 2 with Jason Bennett and Dr. Martha-Lou Cohen: A more advanced exploration of the work.

2 Half-Days: These two days may include scene work, improvisation, or further dream work and facilitation training. We decide as we go.

Archetypal Voice Workshop with Master Voice Teacher Jonathan Hart: You will experience a liberating and in-depth exploration of your voice, body and psyche. Roy Hart teachers view the voice as a channel through which your 'many selves' can be consciously realized and integrated into your life and your acting. Roy Hart teachers approach voice work through intense archetypal exploration, spontaneous imaging and formless improvisation. As actors, you must tell stories using your body and voice, controlled by your mind. That is what this workshop is all about: connecting you to, and releasing, your body and voice.
