dr. martha-lou cohenDr. Martha-Lou Cohen teaches Archetype Work, Imaging, Dream Work and Script Analysis Psychology. She has worked extensively with actors and singers for over 25 years, individually and in group classes. Each year, during her extensive travels throughout Europe teaching, she teaches the professional opera singers at the world-renowned Zurich Conservatory. Her work with actors and singers, in collaboration with Jason Bennett, facilitates access to the whole range of imaginative impulses and archetypes professional performers need for success in the performing world. Dr. Cohen's work includes powerful teachings of psychological systems relevant to recognizing the causes of dramatic conflict in text -- examing the Archetypal "Bonding Patterns" that are the cause of all dramatic tension and conflict.

Dr. Cohen has a graduate degree in Anthropology from University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Cohen has studied Archetype Work and The Psychology of Selves with Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone since 1984. She is a senior staff member at VDI and frequently staffs advanced training workshops there. From 1990 to 1995, she founded and directed the Mountain Oaks Voice Dialogue Center in California. In 2001, she co-founded the Southern California Voice Dialogue Institute, based in Los Angeles. Dr. Cohen has assisted in the creation of Voice Dialogue centers and networks throughout the United States and Europe.

She is the co-author of The Aware Ego Process Workbook, published in 2005.

She has experience surviving cancer, divorce and the death of a brother and a son. She has lived in France, Switzerland and California. She has studied Zen Buddhism, Alanon, Aikido and Native American spirituality.
